Dylan spends a good amount of his time working so he can make sure that his family has nothing to worry about. He first appears in Chapter 12 of Strings of Fate, when he finds out that both twins have been injured simulataneously. He grew up as an only child, and was delighted to find out his first (and eventually, only) kids would be twins, since he would have a bigger family.
